The Department
Melanoma and Skin Cancer Trials (MASC Trials) is Australia and New Zealand’s collaborative trials group specialising in investigator-initiated melanoma and skin cancer research. Working with multidisciplinary medical and research professionals around the globe, MASC Trials conducts clinical trials and related biological research to improve treatments for melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers.
MASC Trials is a registered not for profit organisation, and has an academic affiliation with Monash University, with a dedicated department supporting our research activities, the Melanoma and Skin Cancer Research Centre.
MASC Trials manages a diverse growing portfolio of research in the prevention, early detection and treatment of melanoma and skin cancer, including early to late phase clinical trials. This is a dynamic organisation with global reach and a strong track-record of developing, managing and delivering research that improves outcomes in patients affected by melanoma and skin cancer.
The Role
MASC Trials is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Clinical Data Manager with initiative and research experience to support investigator-initiated, multi-centre, national and international clinical trials in melanoma and skin cancer.
This important role will be responsible for all aspects of timely and accurate data management in compliance with national and international regulatory legislations relating to medical information and Good Clinical Practice. The role involves the development of database templates and trial data management processes, implementing quality assurance activities, and performing data cleaning and data validation to ensure robust datasets. The Clinical Data Manager role depends on communication and collaboration to build relationships and manage each project with MASC Trials stakeholders. There may also be opportunities within the role to assist in the preparation of research output including publications and presentations.
Future career progression into a senior role supervising and training other staff would be a possibility for growth for the right candidate with relevant experience.
This exceptional candidate will be highly organised, preferably with extensive experience within a tertiary setting and in a clinical trials environment. Capability and experience to build databases and create reports is required; experience writing code to extract and analyse data efficiently is preferred.
Skills And Experience
Tertiary qualifications in Health Information Management, Life Sciences or equivalent with substantial relevant professional experience.Preferred 1 year of experience in clinical trial data management, and experience writing code to extract and analyse data efficiently.Experience in the use of Electronic Data Capture (EDC) Software such as REDCap, including data validation and cleaning, building databases and data extractions (reports/queries).A proactive and solution-focused attitude towards problem-solving.Accuracy, strong attention to detail, highly developed organisational skills and proven ability to establish priorities, manage tasks, exercise sound judgement and work to multiple, tight and conflicting deadlinesExcellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion.
