Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled ICT / Data Manager to lead the secure establishment, integration, and management of Metrea’s Data Management and ICT environments for the Airborne ISR Program.
This role will be responsible for the Data Management System (DMS), Virtual Data Centre (VDC) operations, and integration of mission-critical ICT systems (including the Mission Planning System and Common Operating Picture) in compliance with Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and Information Security Manual (ISM) standards.The successful candidate will be the primary interface between Metrea’s global cyber team, subcontractors, and the customer, ensuring all information, cyber, and document security requirements are implemented, accredited, and continuously monitored throughout the program lifecycle.
As the program’s technical data and ICT subject matter expert, you will manage all data produced during the program— spanning technical, commercial, and operational domains—and ensure that systems, data flows, and analytics tools meet contractual, regulatory, and security requirements.This position interfaces across the full program lifecycle—from Transition-In through steady-state operations—supporting mission data management, cyber and ICT integration, and configuration control in close collaboration with Program Management, Quality Management, maintenance, operations, and Commonwealth stakeholders.
Role and Responsibilities
Data & ICT Governance
Establish and maintain the Data Management System (DMS) for centralised storage, control, and dissemination of operational, technical, and commercial data.Manage the Virtual Data Centre (VDC) hosting PROTECTED data in Azure Australia East, ensuring compliance with ISM, PSPF, and IRAP PROTECTED-level accreditation requirements.Oversee integration of data systems with operational systems ensuring end-to-end data security and interoperability.Implement data encryption (AES-256), role-based access control (RBAC), and multi-factor authentication aligned with the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) hardening guidelines.
Information & Cyber Security Integration
Act as the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) work with the Information Security Advisor (ISA) to enforce cyber, information, and document security across all PROTECTED and SECRET systems.Support IRAP assessment and accreditation activities, preparing documentation such as the System Security Plan (SSP), Security Risk Management Plan (SRMP), and Continuous Monitoring Plan (CMP).Coordinate documentation and evidence to supportIRAP assessment and accreditation of PROTECTED-level cloud and data environments.Maintain compliance with PSPF, ISM, and NIST SP 800-37 risk management frameworks.Support security incident response, audits, and data breach investigations as part of the Australian Security Incident Response Team (ASIRT).
Operational Support
Liaise with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to ensure seamless flow of validated data for mission and maintenance purposes.Ensure all data, including flight logs, mission footage, and maintenance records, is properly classified, archived, and retrievable according to contract and Commonwealth policy.Coordinate access controls for Zone 2 and Zone 4 environments and ensure staff data handling complies with Baseline and NV1 clearance requirements.
Continuous Improvement
Implement data analytics dashboards and reporting tools to enhance performance visibility and operational decision-making.Identify and rectify data deficiencies, ensuring that all contracted deliverables and schedules are met.Maintain relationships with the Department for audit and review processes related to ICT, data, and cyber governance.
Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Science, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent Defence experience considered.Minimum 5 years’ experience in ICT, data, or information management roles within Defence, aerospace, or secure government programs.Knowledge of DEF(AUST) 5691, S1000D, and S2000M data and technical publication standards.Demonstrated experience working with PSPF / ISM, IRAP, and NIST security frameworks.Proven success managing cloud-based data environments (Microsoft Azure or similar) for classified operations.Familiarity with Defence DISP-aligned operations advantageous.Strong stakeholder engagement and technical writing skills for managing data governance documentation.
Desirable:
Experience with Microsoft Azure Government Cloud (IRAP PROTECTED).Knowledge of ASDEFCON contractual data deliverables.Familiarity with Defence or other Australian Government information systems and secure networks (Gov TEAMS PROTECTED, Defence Secret Network).

Security Clearance:Must be an Australian Citizen capable of obtaining or holding an NV1 Security Clearance.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Hours and work shifts may change in accordance with department and business needs.

Travel Ability to travel domestically as required (up to 25%).
