- Postdoctoral Research Associate in Mathematics and Statistics
Description
Full time, fixed term for two years, located on the Camperdown Campus
Opportunity to drive impactful research with real-world applications
Base Salary $109,263 - $121,054 + 17% superannuation
About the opportunity
We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Mathematics and Statistics to work on a project entitled “Data-driven modelling of dynamical systems: A measure transport framework”. The successful candidate will work with Associate Professor Tiangang Cui and Professor Georg Gottwald as well as Professor Sebastian Reich on a project at the interface of dynamical systems, measure transport and machine learning on developing a novel mathematical framework for identifying reduced dynamical models of high-dimensional complex multi-scale systems. The project will develop fast, scalable numerical algorithms for extracting the evolution model of the relevant dynamical skeleton, quantifying associated uncertainties. We will develop mathematical theory underpinning the novel methodology, as well as applying it to the development of a data-driven model for climate prediction of the El-Nińo-Southern Oscillation. This project has recently been funded by the Australian Research Council
Your key responsibilities will be to:
undertake research at the interface between dynamical systems, measure transport and machine learning
publish research papers
demonstrate research excellence
